Letter from the President
Welcome,
The Fraternal Order of Police is the world's largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with more than 377,000 members in more than 2,200 lodges. We are the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities. We are committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation. No one knows the dangers and the difficulties faced by today's police officers better than another officer, and no one knows police officers better than the FOP. We are the most unified voice in our profession.
The State of Colorado has over 8700 members; Larimer County Lodge 4 has approximately 300 members. Members consist of employees from the following areas; Jail, Park Rangers (Dept. of Natural Resources), Patrol, Investigations, Dispatch, Civilian staff, and Reserves.
History of our lodge
In the 1980’s both Larimer County and Fort Collins chartered lodges. Due to small numbers it was decided to combine lodges. The new combined lodge was Northern Colorado Lodge #3. Northern Colorado Lodge #3 grew large, it reached over 500 members. In July 2014, with the support of Northern Colorado Lodge #3, Larimer County Lodge #4 was re-chartered. Larimer County Lodge #4 is comprised of employees of the Sheriff’s Office and Department of Natural Resources.
About Larimer County Lodge #4
Majority of the members join for the Legal Defense Fund (LDF). The provided legal protection consists of civil, criminal, and administrative. Off-duty (non-duty related) legal protection is also available for additional cost. But Lodge #4 is more than just LDF, we provide a voice. The Lodge is involved in labor matters, as a member of FOP all lodges in the State of Colorado are a part of the Labor Council (wages, benefits, etc). Lodge #4 is also heavily involved with benevolence, we feel that we should be our brothers and sisters keepers—and we will. We have a strong belief in taking care of our members, their families, and other officers throughout the state in their time of need.
Lodge #4 is actively involved in social events for members and their families, we host an annual Easter Egg Hunt, a summer party, multiple barbeques, and we also jointly participate in a formal Christmas party along with our brothers and sisters from Northern Colorado Lodge #3, Loveland Lodge #52, and Longmont Lodge #6.
This brief description is just an overview of who we are and what we do. Bottom line, we are the rank and file, we are the voice of the employees, we are family, and we will take care of each other!
As the President of Larimer County FOP Lodge 4, and on behalf of our entire membership, we would like to thank you for researching the benefits of the FOP and we look forward to you joining and becoming part of our family!
Fraternally,
Justin Williamson, President
